Story

Born in the light

This painting was created during the early stages of my crash. It is the light half of a diptych, both in colour and emotion.

She is the counterpart to Watching from Behind a Mask. While that painting still feels dark, she brings light to the diptych.

Into your deepest self

She has nothing to hide. Her collar stands proudly upright. Her gaze does not remain on the surface. Because she sees what words cannot capture, this is one of my favourite paintings. Her gaze explains nothing, but opens something. She looks without judgement, deep into your core.

A shimmering future

Everything is still and gently moving. The fish, the light and the space around her.

Goldfish shimmer through the water towards the future. They drift by like dreams and thoughts. Something human lies within each fish, and each swims with a story of its own.

Less, so you can see more

In my first design, I adorned her head with white roses, beads, lace and shells. As I painted, she looked at me so intensely that all those embellishments would only distract. I let the roses float freely around her. Whether they are floating through water or air, I leave up to you.

When she looks at you

Do you truly want to be seen by her?

Then come and meet her up close. In person, her gaze becomes even more intense.

Do you feel a connection with her?

Perhaps she may come and live with you for a while. From January 2027, the painting will also be available to rent and can temporarily become part of your living or working space.
