Story

Born in the dark

This painting is the dark half of my diptych, painted at the beginning of a difficult time.

She is the counterpart to Swimming in a Golden Dream. She was born at a time when everything still felt heavy and dark.

A barrier of lace

Her lace mask hides who she is. She sees you, but you cannot quite see her. Between you and her lies a delicate barrier of lace. She watches without being fully seen.

What swims towards the past

Around her, squid swim towards the past. They carry away dark thoughts of what has been and what is gone. In the water, everything flows on. Even what was too heavy to hold on to.

She wears her hair like a crown. Her proud, piercing gaze remains fixed on you.

Roses bloom even in the dark

Amid all the black, red roses of love bloom. Even in the dark, something can keep blooming.

Despite everything, a little love still travels with her.
